Earlier this month, Pleiades: Literature in Context published Storey’s political essay “The Summer of ’46.” This essay observes the fact that Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump were all born in the same summer, just 67 days apart, then explores what this fact says about Baby Boomers in American politics. Pleiades, a literary biannual featuring poetry, fiction, essays, and reviews by authors from around the world, was founded in 1981 and is housed at the University of Central Missouri.
The publication is available only in print, as part of a 250-page glossy magazine. The issue is available here for $12 and the promo code BOOKS2020 should save you 20% at checkout.
This is Storey’s first publication of 2020 and his 16th since October 2018. This is his most overtly political essay published to date and comes in the most prestigious publication yet to feature his writing.
