Burning House Press, an online literary magazine, just published Storey Clayton’s narrative nonfiction piece “The Rest of the Story.” Guest Editor Petero Kalulé, a Ugandan poet who just published his debut collection, selected the piece as part of the magazine’s month-long theme of Incompleteness. This brief vignette describes a dialogue between two riders during New Orleans’ famous annual Tales of the Cocktail bartenders’ convention.
This work is the seventh excerpt from Driving for U: Behind the Wheel of a New Orleans Uber to be published since October 2018. Despite fitting the theme of Incompleteness, this is currently the closing piece of the Driving for U manuscript. Storey read this piece aloud at the MFA @ 123 Reading Series on January 31, 2019 in Morgantown, West Virginia. This reading series is part of WVU’s MFA program, where Storey is currently enrolled.
Special thanks to Petero Kalulé and the team at Burning House Press for their support!
